- For optimal flavor and appearance, serve watermelons the day they are cut.
- To achieve optimal shelf life store whole watermelons at 45° - 50°F.
- Do not store whole watermelons in areas above 80°F.
- Do not store watermelons with: cantaloupe, bananas, apples, stone fruit, pears, avocados, grapes, kiwi, mixed melons, tomatoes, cucumbers or other ethylene-producing products as this will shorten the product's shelf life.
- Watermelons are not pre-washed. All watermelons should be thoroughly scrubbed and washed in clean water before cutting to prevent cross contamination of the skin surface to interior flesh.
